The Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS) and the Standards Institution of Israel (SII) held a working meeting on 17 June 2026 at the Adams Beach Hotel in Agia Napa, Cyprus, in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two national standardisation bodies. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the CEN-CENELEC General Meetings 2026, hosted in Ayia Napa.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two organisations to exchange information on current and emerging standardisation priorities, discuss areas of mutual interest and explore possible avenues for future cooperation.

CYS was represented by the General Director, the Director of Standardisation and Standards Officers. SII was represented by Vice President of Communications and Foreign Affairs, Vice President of Standardization and International Standardization Coordinator of the Standardization Division.

During the meeting, the two sides presented their respective activities and exchanged views on recent developments in European and international standardisation. Emphasis was placed on the adoption and implementation of European standards, the role of national deviations where necessary, and the importance of standardisation in supporting market needs, regulatory requirements and innovation.

The discussion also covered a wide range of technical and strategic areas, including construction and the adoption of Eurocodes, cybersecurity and the Cyber Resilience Act, artificial intelligence, energy, water reuse, water treatment and irrigation, as well as issues related to security and resilience.

A specific part of the discussion focused on cybersecurity standardisation and the Cyber Resilience Act, with both organisations exchanging information on their involvement in relevant European and international activities. The two sides also discussed the possibility of further exchange of expertise and future participation in workshops or technical meetings.

Both organisations expressed their willingness to maintain open communication channels and to further explore specific areas of cooperation, including possible joint activities, exchange of expertise and participation in European or international initiatives.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between national standardisation bodies and the role of standards in promoting quality, safety, innovation, resilience and sustainable development.
