They establish terminology, material specifications, test methods and performance criteria across non‑ferrous metals and alloys, corrosion testing, evaluation and lifecycle control of metals and alloys.

The scope includes the development of standards and other standardisation deliverables for non‑ferrous metal products—specifically aluminium, copper, zinc alloys and rare-earth elements—covering composition, designations, material properties and test procedures. CEN/TC 219 specifies requirements for cathodic protection systems on buried or immersed metallic structures, including design, commissioning, operation and maintenance. ISO/TC 156 provides international standards for corrosion testing methods (e.g. salt spray, stress‑corrosion cracking, deep‑sea exposures), evaluation techniques and electrochemical analysis. The committees define terms and sampling/test methods, performance criteria and durability benchmarks across applications in construction, transportation, marine and chemical sectors. They promote harmonisation of material quality, safety and corrosion resistance in line with European and international regulatory frameworks.

As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to participate in international and/or European work.
