Taking into consideration the significant activities of the manufacturing industry in the field of thermal solar systems, the current developments of the European Standardisation in this field and the country’s prospects for exports, CYS has established a new National Technical Committee (CYS/TE 13).

Its scope of works is the systematic follow-up and the participation in the work of the European Technical Committee for standardisation: CEN/TC 312 Thermal Solar Systems and Components.

A major objective of the Committee is the smooth harmonisation of the Cypriot industry with the European specifications, which will eventually create more favourable conditions for the increase of exports of thermal solar systems in European countries.

Participants in the Committee are representatives from the Energy Service of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Cyprus Institute of Energy, the Association of Solar Energy Industrialists of Cyprus (EBHEK), the Pancyprian Association of Hydrosolar Technical Utilization (ΠΑΣΥΗΤΕΚ), the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK), the Department of Electromechanical Services (EMS) of the Ministry of Communications & Works, the Cyprus Laboratory Association (CyprusLab) and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
