Scope of Work

As a member of the committee, you have the opportunity to influence national, European, and international standardisation deliverables in the fields of Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in the framework of energy transition. Furthermore, the committee addresses standardisation activities in the field of Energy Savings.

The scope includes the development of standards and other standardisation deliverables in the areas of energy management and energy efficiency, which plays a vital role in supporting the energy transition toward a more sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon economy. These standards provide comprehensive frameworks and methodologies to help organisations systematically monitor, manage, and improve their energy performance. This includes the creation of energy management systems, guidelines for conducting energy audits, establishing energy performance indicators, and methods for calculating and verifying energy savings. Standardisation efforts also support the integration of renewable energy sources, digital tools for energy monitoring, and the promotion of energy-efficient technologies and practices across sectors. Additionally, they contribute to aligning energy-related strategies with broader environmental, climate, and sustainability objectives. Through a harmonised approach at European and international levels, these standards facilitate compliance with policy targets, enhance transparency in energy reporting, and foster innovation and continuous improvement in energy use.

As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to participate in international and/or European work. CYS MC 5.05 monitors and contributes to the work of the following European and international technical committees:

European Technical Committees

  • CEN/CLC/JTC 14 – Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in the framework of energy transition

International Technical Committees

  • ISO/TC 301 – Energy Management and Energy Savings
