Scope of Work
As a member of the committee, you have the opportunity to influence national, European, and international standardisation deliverables in the fields of plastic piping and ducting systems, elastomeric seals, GRP tanks and vessels, rubber/plastic hoses and general plastics materials. They define terminology, material and performance specifications, and test methods across pressure and non-pressure applications. These standards support safety, durability, environmental performance and interoperability in plastic infrastructure.
The scope includes the development of standards and other standardisation deliverables for the full lifecycle of plastic infrastructure components—from potable water piping and ventilation ducting, through elastomeric seals for pipe joints, to GRP tanks and vessels, hoses and hose assemblies, and broader plastic materials applications. They develop definitions, designation systems, material requirements, performance criteria, and standardized test methods. Their work also responds to EU circular plastics mandates, such as standardization requests for recycled plastic characterization and bio-based plastics analysis. Emphasis is placed on environmental impact during the life cycle, durability, tightness, mechanical integrity and safety. By harmonizing testing and specification across Europe, they facilitate interoperability, regulatory compliance and market access.
As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to participate in international and/or European work. CYS MC 2.03 monitors and contributes to the work of the following European and international technical committees:
