Scope of Work
As a member of the committee, you have the opportunity to influence national, European, and international standardisation deliverables in the fields of the full lifecycle of carbon management, from CO₂ capture, transport, utilization, storage and accounting to climate data services, adaptation guidance, and decarbonization roadmaps, with international coordination on environmental management, GHG/climate change and organizational alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals. The standards define terminology, system specifications, performance criteria and frameworks in climate and emissions management across policy-relevant applications.
The scope includes the development of standards and other standardisation deliverables for decarbonization, climate resilience, environmental management and corporate alignment with sustainability goals. CEN/TC 474 develops European standards for all stages of CCUS (Capture, Utilization, Storage and Carbon Accounting), focusing on CO₂ stream quality, pipeline and shipping transport, and risk and environmental management, addressing EU industrial policy needs. CEN/TC 467 addresses standards for climate services, adaptation planning, greenhouse gas management, and sectoral decarbonization guidelines, supporting stakeholder uptake of climate data tools in alignment with EU policy mandates. ISO/TC 207 SC/01 and SC/07 establish international benchmarks for environmental management systems and greenhouse gas accounting. ISO/PC 343 defines requirements for organizations aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals via management systems. Together, they define terminology, process frameworks, performance and reporting criteria to enable consistent, verifiable implementation of climate and sustainability strategies across sectors.
As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to participate in international and/or European work. CYS MC 6.01 monitors and contributes to the work of the following European and international technical committees:
