Scope of Work

As a member of the committee, you have the opportunity to influence national, European, and international standardisation deliverables in the fields of environmental aspects of electrical and mechanical products, particularly in relation to ecodesign and material efficiency. The committee supports the integration of sustainability principles into product design, including considerations for durability, reparability, recyclability, and resource efficiency. It also addresses environmental conditions, classifications, and test methods relevant to product performance in various environments.

The scope includes the development of standards and other standardisation deliverables related to environmental management in electrotechnical products, mechanical ecodesign methodologies, and testing under environmental stress. It encompasses the definition and application of material efficiency requirements under the Ecodesign Directive, ensuring that products are developed with minimal environmental impact throughout their life cycle.

As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to participate in international and/or European work. CYS MC 6.04 monitors and contributes to the work of the following European and international technical committees:

European Technical Committees

  • CEN/CLC/JTC 10 Material efficiency aspects for products in scope of Ecodesign legislation
  • CLC/TC 111X Environment
  • CLC/SR 104 Environmental conditions, classification and methods of test
  • CEN/TC 406 Mechanical products – Ecodesign methodology

International Technical Committees

  • IEC/TC 111 Environmental standardization for electrical and electronic products and systems
