The Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS), as the National Standards Body of Cyprus, informs the public and all interested stakeholders that the Draft International Standard ISO/DIS 37011, Purpose-driven organizations — Guidance, is now open for public consultation.

ISO 37011 is being developed by ISO/TC 309, Governance of organizations, and has reached the Draft International Standard (DIS) stage. At this stage, ISO members and interested stakeholders have an opportunity to review the draft and contribute to its development before it is finalized and published.

What is ISO 37011 about?

ISO 37011 provides guidance for organizations seeking to meaningfully embed purpose into their governance, leadership, strategy and decision-making. It considers how an organization can align its decisions and actions with the long-term wellbeing of people and the planet, while ensuring that its commitments are reflected in the way it operates.

The draft is intended for organizations of all types and sizes, including private and public sector organizations, government and regulatory bodies, non-governmental and voluntary organizations, social enterprises and professional bodies. It is also relevant to advisers, investors, partners and other stakeholders who support organizations or help hold them accountable for their commitments.

The guidance builds on the interconnected governance functions of direction, oversight and accountability, helping organizations embed purpose into their policies, processes, practices, products, services and value networks. As a guidance standard, ISO 37011 provides recommendations rather than certification requirements.
