During the recent CEN and CENELEC General Assemblies, hosted in Cyprus from 16 to 19 June 2026, the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS) had the pleasure of meeting with Mr Karl Gruen of Austrian Standards to explore new opportunities for cooperation under the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The discussions focused on exchanging experience in EU-funded projects, capacity building, national standardisation practices, and the role of standards in supporting innovation and research. Both organizations also explored opportunities for future collaboration in certification-related activities and training initiatives.

Looking ahead, CYS and Austrian Standards aim to continue the dialogue through practical follow-up actions, including knowledge exchange, capacity-building initiatives, and further cooperation to strengthen the impact of standardisation across Europe.
