The Office of Electronic Communications & Postal Regulations (OCECPR), in cooperation with the Cyprus Organization for Standarisation and all interested parties, will promote the development of a National Standard, which will determine the licensing, certification and professional status of installers.
Until the implementation of the standard, OCECPR in collaboration with CYS and all stakeholders will propose a transitional procedure, which will temporarily regulate this issue.
The procedure, which will be applied by CYS for issuing the license of a structured cabling installer during the transitional period is described in the file below.
During the transitional period, following the procedure for the issue of a temporary structured cabling installer License, the installers, who had obtained a certificate of competency and an identity of a licensed designer / installer / maintainer in accordance with the Technical Specifications of CYTA, which were issued based on the Telecommunications Service Regulation before it was abolished, need to register by June 30, 2018 in the temporary register of CYS.
The licenses issued by CYTA and the temporary licenses, which will be issued, will be valid until the above date, after which the licenses issued by CYTA will cease to be valid. Therefore, from July 1, 2018, the installations of the structured cabling Infrastructure in buildings will be performed only by individuals, who are registered in the temporary register of CYS, which will be published on the website of the Organization.
